![]() During and following this period, there are certain severe risks. Withdrawal symptoms, if they occur, will peak following five half-lives (55 hours for Xanax), or 2.3 days. For this reason, the drug should ideally never be discontinued abruptly, as homeostasis is not instantaneously restored following abrupt discontinuance. Any dose of Xanax used on a daily basis over the long-term will induce some degree of physical dependency via alteration of normal brain chemistry. The drug is rapidly metabolized and excreted, facilitating the need to re-dose every six hours to maintain a clinical effect. Alprazolam carries a half-life of eleven hours, which is rather short. The odds of experiencing a withdrawal syndrome are dose and duration dependent in most cases. Certainly, the dosage and duration of use are two factors to consider. There are a number of variables to consider. ![]() There really isn't a clear-cut answer to this scenario, as everyone is individualized and responds to medication differently. God Bless you all, will really appreciate your sincere contribution to my issue. As a prior I have to say that I took Tramadol for more than 4 years in high doses and I have to suffer the consequences when I stopped like withdrawal and else, then I was prescribed with low serotonin levels, so today I'm taking Xanax and Paxil for this and it really cost me to accept that is maybe the only thing that can really help me. So I will really appreciate a good explanation about this to any of you, and how real is that the withdrawal can kill you with a seizure, I'm worried about it. Couldn't believe that a few, only a few hours later I started to feel anxious and accelerated. ![]() What really freaked me out is that I just read that even missing a single dose of Xanax one can have the withdrawal symptoms of it!!!? I started to take Xanax (Alprazolam) because my Cardiologist prescribed it to me, cause my anxiety was causing me to have high blood pressure and heartbeat levels, with this I started to calm down on my anxiety but never have realized of what people said about how intense the withdrawals are until yesterday when I have to miss a dose. My bottle of Xanax was empty yesterday, today I've had to ask for money to an uncle to buy the medication cause I was short on money, I'm a dad of 3 kids and support my family, I'm also prescribed with hypertension and GERD.
